How source citations are found

01You enter your domain.
02We search the measured AI answers for your language and country.
03You get the most important questions (by AI search volume) with the answers and sources your site appears in, and what changed since your previous scan.

What you get out of an AI citation

Not just how often you are cited, but on which question, with which answer underneath it and beside whom. The score follows from that count and flattens out: nought to five mentions moves it a lot, forty to forty-five hardly at all.

The questions themselves, not the keywords

People do not type two words at an AI, they type a whole question. You get those questions verbatim, as they were asked.

How often that question gets asked

The AI search volume per question. Being cited in an answer nobody asks for is not the same as being cited in the one your market reads every day.

The answer itself, shortened

What the AI actually answered, without the citation markup in between. So you can read in whose words your field is explained to someone who does not know you yet.

The sources, with title and link

Up to six sources per answer, with the page title and the link. So you can open them and see why that page was the one picked.

Whether your site is among them

Marked per question. That is the difference between "AI knows my sector" and "AI sends people to me".

Who gets cited beside you

The domains most often cited alongside you, with how often. Usually not a competitor, but a page that explains the question better than yours.

Twelve months behind each question

The monthly run of the volume, so you can tell a question that is rising from one that is already past its peak.

When the answer was seen

The date on every answer. AI answers change faster than search results, so a citation without a date says little.

Questions about Google AI Overviews

What exactly is an AI answer in Google?

Google AI Overviews is an answer block that appears above or between the regular results for some searches, and can show sources. Being cited there can give extra visibility, but the block does not appear for every search.

Is this the same as your AI scanner?

No. This scan looks for your domain in measured Google AI Overview answers. The general AI scanner asks questions to several AI engines, including Google AI Overviews, and assesses whether your brand is mentioned and recommended.

Why am I not cited even though I score well?

Ranking high in the regular results and being cited in an AI answer are two different things. For the latter, Google picks passages that answer a question directly. Pages that talk around the question are rarely cited, however well they otherwise rank.

How quickly does this change?

Faster than regular rankings. Google constantly adjusts these answers and does not show them for every search. One measurement is therefore a snapshot; the trend across several measurements says more than a single result.
